U18s Exit Youth Cup at Bournemouth - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U18s exited the FA Youth Cup at the third round stage following a 3-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth at Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium this evening.
Having gone behind to Charlie Stevens’s goal in the 21st minute, skipper Luke Towler (pictured) levelled five minutes before half-time rebounding after Jamie Mauge had hit the post.
However, the Cherries went back in front in first-half injury time through Jonny Day, then on 55 Josh Salmon made it 3-1.
Town pulled a goal back through sub Will Unadike two minutes later but were unable to find an equaliser with the game ending 3-2, just as last month’s PDL2 South game between the sides at Playford Road finished.
The Blues have now been beaten at men’s first team and U18s level by Bournemouth this week with the clubs’ women’s sides meeting in a rearranged Adobe Women’s FA Cup third round tie at the Martello Ground, Felixstowe on Sunday.
U18s: Bentley, Elliot, Brouwers (Sains 75), Heard, Chenery (Frith 61), Iorpenda (Eze 94), Boswell (Unadike), Towler (c), Mauge, Compton, McCann. Unused: Fleischer.
