McKenna: Hospital and Hospice Visits a Highlight of Christmas Period - Ipswich Town News

The Town players and staff have been taking part in their annual hospital visits this week, which manager Kieran McKenna says are something he and his squad always enjoy.

The Blues have spent time at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, St Elizabeth Hospice and Ipswich Hospital this week.

"It's always a highlight of the Christmas period for us,” McKenna said. "It’s something that we enjoy.

"I know it's sort of seen more as a reward or a treat for the children, especially but for us it's a reward and a treat because it's a chance to come out of the football bubble, come and see some people who are in a difficult position or in hospital anywhere near Christmas time, nowhere near where anyone wants to be.

"So to be able to go out and spend some time with them and hopefully bring a smile, and even just speak to the hospital staff, who are all working really hard and long shifts as well, it’s always nice for us and hopefully a boost for them. It's been good, and the players enjoyed it as well.”
