Liverpool Rebuff Town Doak Bid - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to have had a £16 million offer for Scotland international forward Ben Doak turned down by Liverpool.

According to The Athletic, the Reds rebuffed a £15 million bid from Crystal Palace earlier in the day and then similarly declined £16 million from the Blues.

The offers are both said to be well below Liverpool’s valuation of the 19-year-old, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, where, as it stands, the Anfield club are happy for him to remain for the rest of the season. Despite the knock-back, Town will reportedly maintain their pursuit.

Born in Dairy in North Ayrshire, Doak was a youth player with Ayr United and Celtic and made two senior sub appearances for the Glasgow side before moving on to Liverpool aged 16 in March 2022 for training compensation of £600,000.

Since making that move, Doak, who primarily plays on the right, has made four starts - all in cups - and six sub appearances - three in the Premier League - for the Reds.

In August, he joined Boro on loan and so far has made 17 starts and three sub appearances, scoring twice, for the Championship side managed by Town manager Kieran McKenna’s close friend Michael Carrick.

Doak has won six full Scotland caps in addition to appearances at U16, U17 and U21 levels.

Town are known to be in the market for another forward - ideally right-sided with Chiedozie Ogbene out for a long spell with an achilles injury - and have also shown interest in bringing Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene, a summer target, to Portman Road.
