Boatswain Joins AFC Fylde On Loan - Ipswich Town News

Academy striker Ashley Boatswain has joined National League AFC Fylde on loan to the end of the season.

The 19-year-old will be playing under former Sunderland and England frontman, and one-time Town target, Kevin Phillips, who was appointed head coach at Mill Farm in October.

Boatswain has been a regular in the U21s this season, while also winning his first full international caps with Montserrat.

"Ashley is another top prospect and one we’re buzzing to see sign,” Phillips said. "He’s a completely different type of striker to what we currently have and he’ll learn a lot here.

"He’s hungry and keen to make an impact and we’ll be looking to get the best out of him during his time here.

"We’d like to say a huge thanks to Ipswich Town for trusting us with one of their top talent’s development.”

Boatswain is on the bench for the Coasters, who are third bottom of the table, for this evening’s game away against Maidenhead United, who are one place above them.
