Agbaje's Sutton Loan Spell Ends - Ipswich Town News

Blues youngster Edwin Agbaje’s loan spell with Vanarama National League Sutton United has come to an end.

The 20-year-old joined the Amber and Chocolates in September but suffered a hamstring injury late in the first half of his debut, a 2-1 defeat at Rochdale, which prevented him from making another appearance.

It was the right-back’s second frustrating loan spell during 2024, a stint at Yeovil last season having been cut short due to an ankle problem which required surgery.

Former Republic of Ireland U18 international Agbaje, Town’s Academy Player of the Year last season having skippered the U21s, made one senior start and one sub appearance for the Blues in 2022/23, both in cups.

Meanwhile, Agbaje’s U21s teammate Finley Barbrook remains at Gander Green Lane, the midfielder having covered the greatest individual distance in a game in the National League this season in the recent game against Barnet, 13.5km, and topped the total distance covered over the course of the season at that point, 283km.
