Matt Called Up - Ipswich Town News

Town skipper Matt Holland has been called up to the Ireland squad for their two 2004 European Championship qualification games against Georgia and Albania at the end of the month.

The Irish face the Georgians in Tblisi on Saturday, March 29th and Albania in Tirana on April 2nd.

With the league game at Gillingham scheduled for the same day as the Georgia match, Town will be hoping that Darrens Ambrose and Bent will be called up for the England U21 match in Portugal on March 28th.

Hermann Hreidarsson would have been involved with Iceland but for his knee injury.

If Town don't have the three players called up required to have the Gillingham match postponed then Matt Holland's record of playing every league game since his move from Bournemouth will be broken.

Irish squad: Kiely (Charlton Athletic), Colgan (Hibernian), Given (Newcastle United), Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), Breen (West Ham United), O'Brien (Newcastle United), Cunningham (Birmingham City), Kelly (Leeds United), Finnan (Fulham), O'Shea (Manchester United), Harte (Leeds United), Carsley (Everton), Healy (Celtic), McAteer (Sunderland), Kinsella (Aston Villa), Holland, Reid (Millwall), Duff (Blackburn Rovers), Kilbane (Sunderland), Morrison (Birmingham City), Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur), Connolly (Wimbledon), Keane (Tottenham Hotspur).
