Le Pen Wants to Stay - Ipswich Town News

Town winger Ulrich Le Pen says he wants to stay at Racing Club de Strasbourg when his loan spell is up at the end of the season. Town have agreed a fee payable by the French club should they want to sign the left-sided player in the summer.

Le Pen hasn't always been in the Racing Club starting line-up this season due to injury and the similarities between himself and former French U21 international Fabrice Ehret.

However, with Habib Beye out injured and Yves Deroff suspended, Le Pen has a chance to impress on the right wing when they face Bordeaux on Wednesday, a position he says he has never played before.

Town's £1.6 million signing from Lorient in November 2001 is happy living in the Strasbourg area and says he wants to sign permanently and show his new club his top form: "My wish is to stay with Racing Club and play. Without being arrogant I think I have a lot more I can give to the club."

Le Pen, 29, hardly showed Town supporters his best, injury and form restricting him to just three substitute appearances in his time at Portman Road.

This season Le Pen has made 15 league starts plus five appearances as a sub and has scored three goals.

The Blues are paying a small proportion of his wages while he is with Racing Club.
