Unlucky Fans Swamp Colchester - Ipswich Town News

Colchester United are reporting an increase in demand for season tickets and thay are laying the cause firmly at the feet of ITFC.

The Layer Road club, Town's opponents on Friday, say that unlucky fans are opting for Second Division football next season rather than missing out completely.

Marie Partner, club secretary, said "Ipswich's promotion seems to have helped us. We may even have gained another thousand people."

Colchester normally sell around 1,500 season tickets, but they are already at 1,200 now. Fans switching to Layer Road may feel they have gone back in time to the '92 promotion rather than 2000 what with Dozzell, Johnson (G), Stockwell, Whitton, Williams and Gregory (D) being with Colchester.

No further news on transfers this morning. Town made good contacts whilst in Finland, Latvia and Estonia, but there doesn't seem to be any player they are specifically interested in.

The SGR competition to name the new Bluey is hotting up. Their breakfast programme this morning mentioned that the name Linighan was gaining a huge number of votes in what they are saying is their most popular competition ever.
