Wright to Sign! - Ipswich Town News

Town keeper Richard Wright will finally put pen to paper on a new deal early this week, ensuring he remains at Town for the new season ahead.

Wright has committed himself to Town for two seasons, so we will probably have the same situation next summer. Although Town will be pleased that Wright has signed the situation is still not ideal from their perspective.

It is David Sheepshanks' policy to offer players new contracts when they have two years remaining on their deal as with David Johnson recently, however, the club have been unable to persuade Wright to sign a long-term deal. Still, it does mean that we won't be hearing quite so much from Jonathan Barnett over the next few weeks.

George Burley announced the deal after the friendly with Colchester. The Town manager said: "Richard has agreed the terms of a new deal, the best ever made to a player at this club, and he expects to sign next week."
