U17s Defeat Man United - Ipswich Town News

Town's U17s side beat Manchester United's youngsters 2-1 at Playford Road on Saturday morning. The Blues' kids came from behind with both goals coming from Craig Reid.

United, defeated last week by Crystal Palace, went ahead in the seventh minute through a Ramon Calliste header.

Town hit back on 60 via a Reid penalty after Scott Barron had been fouled. Prior to the Town winner United were awarded a penalty but Calliste's spot-kick was saved by the impressive Floyd Kroll.

Reid and Town's second came on 80, the former Coventry academy player latching on to a Dean Bowditch cross and beating United keeper Heaton.

Should Town win their next play-off game they will qualify for the knock-out stages of the play-offs.

The U19s had a less auspicious morning, losing 1-0 at Wimbledon, although a number of regulars were missing, either with the U17s or in the senior squad.
