Matt Supporters' Winner - Ipswich Town News

Town skipper Matt Holland has won the ITFC Supporters Club Player of Year award. Holland gained 40% of the vote held at last week's home game against Portsmouth with Thomas Gaardsøe second and Pablo Couñago and Fabian Wilnis third and fourth.

Holland, tipped by many to leave the club over the summer, previously won the award in 1997/98, will receive the trophy prior to Saturday's game against Wimbledon.

The Ireland international told the club site he was flattered to win the honour: "It's a great honour to win the award and I'd like to thank the fans for their support.

"Ever since I first walked through the door at the club I have felt at home and I have been lucky enough to have enjoyed a great relationship with the fans since.

"The supporters have given us fantastic backing all year. To be getting 29,000 at home games shows the terrific loyalty there is at Ipswich.

"I'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of the team to thank the fans for the support they have given us through a difficult year for everyone involved with the club."
