Pre-Season Dates Set - Ipswich Town News

Town have announced details of the pre-season fixtures ahead of their 2003/04 First Division campaign. As previously reported the Blues are off to Scandinavia for three games as well as playing a number of more local matches.

The programme kicks-off with a visit to Roots Hall, Southend on Tuesday, July 15th (KO 7.30pm).

Two days later the club is off to Scandinavia where they will be based at Trelleborg in Sweden. The first game will be against Swedish club Mjällby AIF on July 18th (KO 7pm).

July 20th sees Town face Danish club IF Helsingør (KO 3pm). Helsingør will be familiar to some Town fans, many of whom took a trip across the water from Helsingborg when the Blues faced the Swedish side in the UEFA Cup two years ago. Helsingør are said to be the equivalent of a Third Division or Conference side.

A game at Trelleborg against a side made up of players from Trelleborgs FF, IFK Trelleborg and BK Ymor will end the tour on July 22nd (KO 7pm).

On July 30th Town will take on Boston United at York Street and will come up against old boys Richard Logan and Pilgrims' boss Neil Thompson.

As previously reported, Robert Dickinson, Lee Beevers and James Pullen could all be Boston players by the time the Blues face them.

The club are hoping to arrange a home friendly at home on Friday, August 1st in final preparation for the season proper.

TWTD understands that a reserve side will play a pre-season game at Framlingham Town at some point in July.
