Club Aims for £4m - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to be aiming to raise between £3.5 and £4 million via the debenture and loan stock schemes. The club needs to raise a significant amount of cash by the end of May in order to persuade the Football League to allow them to trade players once more.

The debentures, long-term season tickets of 10 and 20 years, are available to a limited number of supporters and 100 fans had shown an interest up to last week. Town's Ticket Office need to hear from anyone who wants to buy one before May 16th.

The loan stock scheme is aimed at the more high-powered Town supporter who will be expected to invest £50,000 or more via the stock which may be converted into shares.

This is restricted to 50 investors with the club's board recently revealing that they will put in £400,000 via this scheme.

Season ticket sales are also an important element in the club's refinancing with all the signs indicating that renewals are going well.

How much money the club brings in via loan stock, debentures and season tickets will affect the number of players who are sold over the summer. Town have income targets which include a provision for player sales if lower figures are brought in through other means.

Later in the year the club intends to issue shares. Due to the current financial position this cannot be done at the moment as much as the board would like to.

Chairman David Sheepshanks says he is confident that the club can find the required investment: "I am hoping that we will find quite a number of people who are keen to invest in the club. Not because they want any specific return but because they recognise the importance of the club and because they want to play their part and own a share of it for the long term good of the town and county."
