Taricco to Return Shocker!!! - Ipswich Town News

Town are set to make a sensational swoop for ex-Town star Mauricio Taricco. Town are to offer ÂŁ3 million for the Argentinian full-back who became one of the most popular players ever to wear the blue and white. Mauricio, know to many as Maurice, played for Town between 1994 and 1998 before being controversially sold to Spurs in November 98. Spurs recently bought Ben Thatcher form Tottenham and so it seems Taricco may find himself out of the frame. The contract he signed at Spurs had a clause in it which meant Town got first refusal should he leave George Graham's club. Town manager George Burley said: "I have made firm bids for two players and I am hopeful of having them on board by the time we face Fiorentina on Saturday. In one case it could be a new record for this club. They are quality players, both of them, who will enhance our squad. At this stage we have them pencilled in, no more than that."

It is being suggested that the other player could be Colin Cameron from Hearts. Cameron is 27 and is a striker.

Town have denied any interest in USA international Gregg Berhalter.
