Ayinde Joins Doncaster - Ipswich Town News

U21s winger Leon Ayinde has joined League One Doncaster Rovers on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old signed for Town from hometown club Cork City in January 2023 and spent the second half of 2025/26 on loan with Boreham Wood in the National League, winning the National League Cup but losing in the play-off final to Rochdale, coincidentally the club where the Irish U21 international had spent the previous season on loan.

"I am really excited to bring Leon to the club,” Rovers manager Grant McCann said. "He is a really dynamic, exciting wide forward - someone we have tracked for quite a bit of time now.

"He’s an exciting player, he wants to get at people, run at people. I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Ayinde, who has agreed a two-year deal from the beginning of July, added: "First of all, it’s a massive club - there isn’t much to think about. After that first call I had with him [Grant] I’ve been trying to get it done ever since. I am just delighted that it’s done.”

The forward, whose contract is up this summer, was on the bench for the Blues first team on three occasions, once in the Championship, the home game with Southampton in August, but didn’t make it onto the field.

The highlight of his time with Town was scoring against Borussia Mönchengladbach’s senior side in a friendly against the Blues’ U21s during pre-season ahead of 2024/25.
