Town in for Rougier? - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to be interested in released Reading man Anthony Rougier. The 32-year-old striker or midfielder put in an impressive display against the Blues while on loan with Brighton towards the end of the season, scoring one and setting up another.

The Trinidad and Tobago international has been told he will not be offered a new deal at the Madejski Stadium and a number of First Division clubs are said to be interested.

Joe Royle has indicated that his priority over the summer is to bring in a goalkeeper and a central defender, however it is likely that he will have identified targets in other areas in case he is forced to sell members of his existing squad.

Rougier, 6'0", joined the Royals in the summer of 2000 from Port Vale for £340,000 and has scored six goals in 99 appearances.

Previously he was in Scotland with Hibernian and Raith Rovers after moving from Trinidad where he had played for Trintoc, Trinity Pros and United Petrotrin.
