Bent Scores Winning Goal - Ipswich Town News
Town's Darren Bent came off the bench for the England U21s to score the winning goal in the 3-2 friendly victory over Serbia and Montenegro at Hull's Kingston Communications Stadium.
Bent struck on 87, just five minutes after coming on, heading powerfully over the keeper from Carlton Cole's flick-on.
Earlier Shola Ameobi had put England ahead before Branimir Petrovic levelled for the Serbs.
Jermain Defoe gave England the lead again but Srdan Stanic seemed to have gained a draw with his 25-yarder, however he was reckoning without Bent.
Former Town star Darren Ambrose was also a second half sub for David Platt's side.
The U21s face Slovakia in a European Championships qualifier next Tuesday at Sunderland.
