Mthunzi Named in Zimbabwe Squad - Ipswich Town News
Town U21s defender Corbin Mthunzi has been named in the final Zimbabwe squad ahead of their opening two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.
The 19-year-old was selected in a provisional party announced just over a week ago and has made the reduced group confirmed today.
The Zimbabweans travel to take on Sierra Leone on Thursday 24th September, then host DR Congo four days later. Equatorial Guinea are the other team in the group.
Mthunzi became the first player with Town to represent Zimbabwe when he made his debut in March and has now won three caps.
The centre-half was with the Blues first team for much of pre-season and featured in the friendlies against FC Cartagena, Osasuna and Oxford United.
Former Blues attacker Tawanda Chirewa, now with Wolves, is also included in the squad.
Town are likely to have a record number of players away with international squads during the three-week break which follows Saturday’s Premier League game at Everton.
