Venus Interest Confirmed - Ipswich Town News
Cambridge United manager John Taylor has confirmed that released Town defender Mark Venus is one of his main targets this summer.
Taylor says that the former Wolves player is in his sights: "Mark is one of the players we are looking at.
"We are checking out several centre-halves, but I don't anticipate a signing before the end of this month. We have youngsters who can provide the legs, but we need a very experienced head to help shape the defence."
If he does move to the Abbey Stadium then Venus will have to take a massive pay cut. If reports are to be believed the Dedham-based player was on £7,000-a-week at Town, ten times more than the top earner with the U's.
