Play-Off Plans Vetoed - Ipswich Town News
Town and Norwich City were amongst the clubs which voted against the expansion of the play-off system to six clubs yesterday. The plan to include teams down to eighth in Division One was defeated at a Football League AGM.
Blues' chairman David Sheepshanks says he is happy with the status quo: "The current system has worked for many years and, although I don't say this very often, if it ain't broke don't fix it.”
The day prior to the vote the Barclaycard Premiership and the FA both wrote letters expressing their reservations about the play-off changes.
A vote on plans to relegate and dock points from clubs in relegation was put back to an EGM in September.
