Matt Could Skipper Pompey - Ipswich Town News
Town captain Matt Holland could be wearing the skipper's armband at Portsmouth next season according to a report this afternoon. Holland is still to decide whether to join the south coast club but Harry Redknapp seems confident he will.
Redknapp is understood to want Holland to lead his team, the former West Ham boss is impressed at the midfielder's consistency and lack of injuries in his time with Town.
The Pompey manager says that as far as he's concerned the deal is almost in the bag: "Matty's away with the national team at the moment but when he comes back we'll have a chat with him. It's basically all done and dusted and tied up with his aggent.
"There's just a few bits to be sorted out. It's basically a case of getting him down for his medical. I know him very well and I'm sure he'll do a good job for us."
Pompey had a £750,000 bid for Holland accepted earlier this week.
