Finidi Exit Confirmed - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Finidi George has left the club. TWTD reported last week that the club and the former international's representatives had all but reached an agreement.

Chairman David Sheepshanks says the move is in the best interests of all concerned: "Finidi did not feature in Joe Royle's plans for the future.

"It might be an understatement to say that his career with Ipswich has been as disappointing for the club as it has, no doubt, for him.

"Despite the cost, early termination of the contract made best sense for Ipswich Town. Both parties can now draw a line under this unhappy episode. However I would like to wish him all the best for his future."

Finidi, set to return to Spain where he wants to find another club, is understood to have been on £20,000 a week at Town with a figure of £1 million reported to be his settlement. This will be paid in instalments.
