Hreidarsson Deal Not Cut and Dried - Ipswich Town News

Town's attempt to bring Hermann Hreidarsson to Portman Road is not a done deal as the Blues are claiming.

Wimbledon FC's chief executive David Barnard said this afternoon: "The player is currently in Iceland on international duty and does not return until Thursday.

"We have not yet accepted the offer they have made. They made an original bid which we rejected as it was unsatisfactory. They have since made a second offer which we are now considering.

"Nothing can be done until Hermann returns and I can tell you from experience that a week in football is a very long time indeed, anything can happen. I can tell you that he is still a Wimbledon player."

Earlier in the day it seemed to be certain that Town had signed the former Brentford man in a £4 million deal. David Sheepshanks had said: "We eventually managed to tie the deal up. We are delighted that we have got a proven international player to boost our defence."

I'm sure we'll hear more by the end of the day...
