Reading First for Town - Ipswich Town News

Town will start their 2003/04 First Division campaign with a home game against Reading on Saturday, August 9th. It is the first time the Blues have begun a season at Portman Road since 1999/00.

The first away date is at Crewe Alexandra a week later with Coventry the next visitors to Portman Road on August 23rd. Town's first ever league game at Wigan Athletic is scheduled for the following Bank Holiday Monday.

The eagerly anticipated East Anglian derbies are on December 20th and March 6th, with the Canaries making the trip to Portman Road first.

The fixture computer has been generous to Town on Boxing Day when they are set to play West Ham United at Upton Park. The New Year's Day fixture has been scrapped.

The Blues look to have a tricky run-in with the season ending at home to Cardiff City. Prior to that, April and May see games against West Brom (H), Rotherham (A), Sunderland (H), Gillingham (A), Nottingham Forest (H) and Sheffield United (A).

TWTD refuses to pay the frankly ludicrous amount of money the Football League asks for the full fixtures but these can be perused at the club site: www.itfc.co.uk
