Wantaway keeper Matteo Sereni has revealed that he will have to take a paycut of 50% if he joins Italian club Lazio. The 28-year-old is currently mulling over whether to take the move to Rome.
Sereni says that he wants to return home but the economic climate in Italian football is not helping him fulfil his ambition: "It is my dream to be back playing in Serie A but at the moment it is a nightmare for me.
"I want to go back but Italian clubs have no money and it is the same with Lazio.
"They want me to take a 50% cut in wages so it is not easy for me. If nothing is agreed then I will be back on Monday."
Sereni is Town's highest paid player on a reported £22,000-a-week. According to Italian sources Lazio are hoping to complete the deal over the weekend.
