Scales Faces Test - Ipswich Town News

Town new signing John Scales is facing a fitness test if he is to be fit for Saturday's game. Scales suffered a thigh injury in last week's game with Fiorentina. He has missed training several times this week, but manager George Burley is confident he will be OK: "Hopefully it will settle down in time, John won't want to miss out against his old club."

Burley has also confirmed that Titus Bramble will start on the right side of defence with new boy Hreidarsson the likely starter on the left. John McGreal and Mark Venus are both available should Scales miss out. Venus has recovered from the ankle injury he sustained last week, while McGreal has now played a few games after missing much of pre-season.

Fabian Wilnis looks likely to get the right wing-back role after a good pre-season, far better than last year's which saw him drop to the reserves. Gary Croft looks likely to be on the bench.

Jermaine Wright looks likely to start in midfield with James Scowcroft joining David Johnson in attack. This leaves no place for Marcus Stewart or Martijn Reuser both of whom are more than likely to be on the bench. Neither Nabil Abidallah or Richard Logan will travel.

This starting line-up is the same as the one which started the Fiorentina game, but with Hreidarsson starting ahead of Venus. Likely line-up: R Wright, Wilnis, Clapham, Hreidarsson, Scales, Bramble, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson. Subs from: Branagan, Venus, Stewart, Reuser, Brown, Thetis and McGreal.

More emails have come in from fans who have had ticket problems for Saturday's game. One correspondent wrote last night: "Oh dear, there seems to have been the most monumental cock-up. We ordered our (two) tickets over a week ago, and received booking confirmation reference numbers. I finally got through this morning to query their non-appearance and was told they'd be posted today (Thursday), and that I'd get a call back later to confirm what to do if they didn't arrive. Then tonight (at 7.30pm!) my wife took the call from the ticket office - to be told there'd been a huge mistake, they'd been selling tickets which didn't exist, and there weren't any tickets left for us. We should ring tomorrow (Friday) to sort out some sort of compensation in the form of guaranteed tickets for a couple of future away matches." These problems added to the Away Match Passport hassles experienced by many make it a first game of the season to forget for the ticket office.

Meanwhile touts are selling tickets in Spurs sections for £55 this morning.
