Woodbridge 2-2 Reserves - Ipswich Town News

A large crowd on a sunny evening saw a young Ipswich side take on Woodbridge Town. It was a very physical game but with moments of skill as both teams battled hard for victory.

Against the run of play Woodbridge took the lead through Jamie Baker. Jamie (an ex-Ipswich schoolboy) scored direct from a free kick in the 20th minute. The remainder of the half was mainly Ipswich with Alfie Kamara pushing the team forward. Good attempts at goal were made by Scott Baron, Adem Atay and Liam Craig.

The second half saw a number of substitutes on both sides with the French trialist starting the second half for Town. On 50 minutes Mitchell equalized for the Town. Craig Reid nearly added a second on 55 minutes after a long ball was played through to him. On 66 minutes Town took the lead, the goalscorer (we believe!) was young Irish schoolboy Billy Clarke, with his first touch.

More substitutions led to a disjointed game and Woodbridge took advantage of this as they equalised with a header from a free kick in the 77th minute.

Ipswich starting line up was: Scott Peat, Erkan Okay, Erdum Artun, Chris Hogg (Capt), Scott Mitchell, Adem Atay, Alfie Kamara, Daniel Flack, Craig Reid, Liam Craig, Scott Barron.

Subs used included the French trialists, Liam Manning, Matt Robinson, James Krause, Billy Clarke and 2 others.

Many thanks to Alasdair Ross for this report.
