Davis Deal Done - Ipswich Town News

As TWTD reported over the weekend keeper Kelvin Davis will complete his move to Portman Road later today. The 6'1" stopper will have a medical before signing, the Dons' administrators having agreed to allow him to join the Blues over the weekend.

Davis missed out on Wimbledon's pre-season friendly at Torquay to continue talks with the Blues and joins on a free transfer. However, the Dons will get 50% of any sell-on in the future and a bonus if Town are promoted.

Joe Royle is very pleased to have got his man: "At last. It is a big relief to get Kelvin, we have been working on this for some time now and we are delighted to get him.

"As soon as we heard of his availability we worked towards bringing him here and we have had to be very patient.

"Some top clubs were also after him but the way we dealt with things the right way worked in our favour in the long run. He is the top rated keeper in the division and is highly ambitious to play in the Premiership with us."

Davis is likely to make his first appearance in a Town shirt at Boston on Wednesday night and should be in the line-up which faces Levski Sofia on Friday evening.

Royle was also pleased with his side's display at Colchester on Saturday: "This was the hardest game we have had and they will feel aggrieved with the scoreline and it might have been hard on them but I don't care. There were plenty of games last season when we didn't deserve just to get a draw or to lose, so I hope this becomes a habit and we defend properly and we score goals.

"Our keeper has had one save to make, we have defended magnificently and although it was the worst we played in terms of fluency, it is the most delighted I am with all the pre-season games because it was a clean sheet and we defended properly."

Meanwhile James Pullen looks set to join Dagenham and Redbridge after a trial but Stoke have probably ended their interest in Andy Marshall now that they have signed former West Ham and Manchester United keeper Raimond van der Gouw.
