Town's second string start their season proper this afternoon at the Training Centre against Southampton (KO 2pm).

John McGreal will be involved as he works his way to full fitness after last season's knee ligament problems. Joe Royle said last week that the defender was about a month away from first team action.

Also in the side is Andy Marshall while Jermaine Wright will get 90 minutes under his belt. Alun Armstrong's chances of first team football at either Town or elsewhere will be enhanced by a goal or two.

Antonio Murray returns to action after an injury but Aidan Collins is missing after recently having his tonsils out.

Reserves: Marshall, Okay, Richards, Murray, McGreal, Nash, Abidallah, Wright, Westlake, Bowditch, Armstrong. Subs: Morrow, Price, Atay, Barron and Hogg.
