Joe: Santos to Drop Back - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Joe Royle has said that in future he plans to use Georges Santos as a central defender. The summer Bosman signing has found it hard going to settle in the Blues' midfield during the early stages of the season.
Santos was primarily a midfielder with most of his previous clubs, although he spent much of his spell with Grimsby in the middle of their defence.
Royle says the Frenchman will mainly play at the back from now on: "I asked Georges to do a job for me in midfield because we had injuries and Matt Holland had gone.
"His best position is at the back and we knew that when we signed him. But we also knew he could play in midfield.
"From now on we will be looking at Georges as a central defender in the general scheme of things."
