Mahon Out to Impress - Ipswich Town News

Loan signing Alan Mahon says he is out to impress in his three-month spell with the Blues. Previously Town have had one or two loan players who have markedly failed to deliver but the Irishman is hoping to to show his best form.

In the past for every Jamie Clapham or Jason Cundy joining the Blues on loan there have been the likes of Gerry Creaney or Samassi Abou who did little to impress fans while on short-term deals.

Mahon says he hopes to be amongst the worthwhile temporary acquisitions: "When you go out on loan you have something to play for. Even when I was playing in Blackburn reserves I gave 100%, but when you are in the reserves sometimes your heart might not be quite in it, because you may feel you have been hard done by.

"Then, if you go to a club that wants you to play for them and you are enjoying your football again then you are going to give that bit more. You want to impress the crowd, the manager, the players around you and show you are worth your place in the team."

Mahon and fellow loanee Chris Bart-Williams will make their Town debuts today in the number 25 and 23 shirts respectively.
