Jim: Big Week Ahead - Ipswich Town News

Skipper Jim Magilton says the Blues face their biggest weeek since he joined the club five years ago. The former Northern Irish international admits that he can't look at the league table at present.

Magilton says: "We face the biggest week since I came to this club.

"Character has to be shown like it's never been shown before and I'll be right in there.

"Since I've been here I've been involved in big promotion and relegation weeks but I think this week is as important as any and I just hope that everyone can stick together."

Magilton has also defended boss Joe Royle: "We all know how he's been bound by financial restrictions. He's had to get rid of international players and put together a side that contains newcomers who have arrived on free transfers and loan signings.

"At the end of the day, there is no better man for the task at this club than Joe Royle. I'm convinced of that. We know his hands are tied and we know he's had to let quality players go."

Magilton like Royle says that sticking together will be the key to Town's fortunes changing: "At a time like this everyone needs to united and fight hard together. I can't tell supporters how bad I feel about where we are. A good week can see the situation change and who knows what might happen then."
