Ambrose Doesn't Want Loan - Ipswich Town News

Former Town star Darren Ambrose says he doesn't want to go out on loan, preferring to fight for a place at Newcastle United. Town boss Joe Royle recently asked the Magpies if Ambrose could return to Portman Road for a spell but at the time the midfielder was not fully fit.

Ambrose said: "I didn't want to go on loan. I came here to play for Newcastle, not other clubs, and I want to play my football here for the rest of the season.

"Ipswich were one of the clubs interested in me, but although I had some fabulous times there, I didn't want to go back. I feel I can learn more at Newcastle because of the players I'm training with every day.

"I was obviously a little worried that one of the bids would be accepted, but the manager took me aside and he told me he wanted me to stay.

"He has told me to get my head down, keep working hard and I'll get my chance in the first team. That was all I needed to hear and I was delighted to stay."

Ambrose has made one sub appearance since joining Newcastle in March.
