Trial for Rhodes? - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Joe Royle has denied that the Blues are set to sign Newmarket Town winger Alex Rhodes, however he does admit that it is possible the 20-year-old could come to Portman Road for a trial.
Royle rebutted an immediate contract offer for Rhodes, nicknamed 'Tiger', but said that he and his staff may run the rule over him: "Whilst he might be joining us on trial there is no question of a deal at the moment."
Rhodes, a pacy left-sided midfielder, has had trials with Norwich, Yeovil, Luton and Cambridge United recently after an impressive start to the season with Newmarket.
Early on he scored hat-tricks in three successive Ridgeons League matches, alerting league scouts to his abilities. He currently has a two-year contract with the Jockeys and would cost a fee of around £20,000.
