Finidi Real Trial Monday - Ipswich Town News
Released midfielder Finidi George is set for a trial at former club Real Mallorca on Monday. The ex-Nigerian international left Portman Road in the summer after he and the club agreed a £1 million settlement of his contract, payable over the next 18 months.
Real are keen for him to prove himself before offering him a contract, a club spokesman saying: "First he must show he is in good condition, then we must see if we can fit him into the squad."
Mallorca coach Luis Aragonés has been in talks with the player he previously managed in his earlier spell with Mallorca and while boss at Real Betis. He says he is keen to add the veteran to his squad: "If we can bring in a new player and he can add to the team, then that is good for everyone concerned."
Finidi joined Town from Mallorca in the summer of 2001 for £3.1 million but rarely impressed while at Portman Road.
