Ex-Town midfielder Finidi George says he isn't surprised that Real Mallorca have asked him to take a month's trial prior to deciding whether to sign him. The Nigerian international left Town in the summer after settling his contract for £1 million paid over 18 months.
Finidi started his trial with his old side on Monday. Mallorca are once again coached by Luis Aragonés who was his boss in his previous spell at the club and when he was with Real Betis.
The ex-Ajax man says he is on trial in order to prove his fitness, often questioned during his time at Town: "I haven't played for a long time, so it's logical that the club would want to see what sort of shape I'm in. I am not here to deceive anybody.
"This test is not to demonstrate if I can play soccer, but is a test to verify what my physical state is.
"I took great joy when I received the call from Luis. I believe he has offered me a new opportunity to return to play soccer.
"He made me feel happy and I'm delighted to be again training with a coach I've worked with for three years."
Finidi joined Town for £3.1 million in the summer of 2001 but rarely impressed in his time at Portman Road.
