Town boss Joe Royle has refuted a report this morning claiming that Alun Armstrong was the player interesting Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies when he watched the reserves at Portman Road last night.
Royle says that it was three of the Blues' young players who were being eyed by the Killie boss: "Jim sat with me throughout the game. He's a good pal of mine, has been for many, many years.
"He never mentioned Alun Armstrong. Jim was there to cast his eye over our young reserve players, the likes of Matt Bloomfield, Nabil Abidallah and Chris Hogg."
No bids for any of the three is expected immediately, although all of them are likely to be available for loans.
Royle said recently that he wants Matt Bloomfield to go out on loan to gain some first team experience while Hogg has just returned from a successful month at Boston United.
Dutchman Abidallah, whose contract is up in the summer, recently went on trial at Ross County and is expected to join them either on loan or permanently on a free transfer when the January transfer window opens.
Kilmarnock are not the first side to be linked with Armstrong recently, although as yet none of the reports have proved to be true.
