Other Clubs Chased Shefki - Ipswich Town News

Blues' boss Joe Royle has revealed that Norwich City were one of a number of clubs targeting striker Shefki Kuqi after he impressed in his loan spell at Portman Road. The Finnish international agreed to sign for Town last night with the paperwork set to go through today.

Royle says: "There were two, maybe three, other First Division clubs who had all seen him do well for us and decided to make a move.

"But Shefki loves this place - he has been positive about staying here from day one - so there was never any danger that he wouldn't sign for us.

"I found out afterwards that there had been interest from Norwich, but that's beside the point and doesn't matter to me."

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington has tried to play down his side's interest in the 27-year-old: "We just made a little inquiry — that was all. We spoke to his agent to see what the situation was. It wasn't a heavy, heavy one."

Kuqi will line-up alongside Darren Bent in the Town attack at Cardiff City on Saturday.
