Davey Wants Town Talks - Ipswich Town News

Millionaire Canary fan Colin Davey says he wants to arrange talks with Town chairman David Sheepshanks regarding a potential investment in Town. Davey has been in discussions with Norwich regarding putting some cash into the Norfolk club, but talks appear to have broken down.

The millionaire gambler and business man has offered the Canaries £5 million but wants a seat on the board, something which seems to be a stumbling block.

Davey said at the weekend that if Norwich weren't keen on his cash then he'd turn his attentions to the Blues.

Bury St Edmunds-based Davey is keen to talk to Town as soon as possible: "The way things are going at the moment, I will definitely be approaching Sheepshanks to see if we could do business, and think there is more of a chance I could be coming to Ipswich than Norwich.

"I get the feeling that City want my money, but they do not want me on the board, and I am not prepared to put that quantity of cash in without having a say about how it is spent.

"If Norwich do not take up my offer I will speak to Ipswich today and see if I can organise a meeting for later in the week so we can talk about some sort of package.

"And I would probably be prepared to invest more than £5 million if more cash was needed to buy the players to take the club back into the Premiership.

"I was brought up in Norfolk and am a Norwich fan, but for the last eight years I have lived in Suffolk and am now torn 50-50 between the two clubs - I would be very happy with a stake in either."
