Swede Set for Trial - Ipswich Town News

Swedish midfielder or striker Erik Sundin says he is set for a trial with Town. Sundin who plays in Sweden for Café Opera is travelling to Suffolk today after a friend set up the link.

Sundin, 24, says he is looking forward to showing the Blues what he can do "I'm very excited. Actually I don't know if they have seen me play, it's a good friend who has put me in contact with Ipswich.

"I see it as a fun experience and don't really want to make a big deal out of it. I'll just try to do my best and hope that they are satisfied. It's still a dream to play in the top leagues."

Injury kept Erik Sundin on the sidelines during the early part of the Swedish season (which runs through the summer). However, he returned and did well, scoring five goals and gaining four assists in twelve games.

Sundin, who can play on either side of midfield, is out of contract with Café Opera and has not agreed a new deal with the Superetten club (equivalent of Division One here), and so would not cost a fee should he impress at Portman Road.

There have also been rumours that there may be interest from bigger Swedish clubs, however Sundin says there have been no serious offers.
