Mahon Hopes for Return - Ipswich Town News

Alan Mahon, recalled yesterday by Blackburn from his loan spell at Town, says he hopes that he can return to the Blues at some point. The Irishman has enjoyed his time at Portman Road and says he is surprised to be returning to Ewood Park.

Mahon said: "This has come as a bit of a shock. I have made no secret of how much I have enjoyed myself at Ipswich. The supporters, the players, staff and media have all been brilliant to me.

"You never know what is round the corner but I really hope that one day I will be back here."

Mahon returns to Lancashire as cover for a left-sided problem with a number of players injured or failing to impress.

Manager Graeme Souness was expected to make a loan bid for former Everton and Preston man Brian McBride during the transfer window, however the deal has fallen through with MLS side Columbus Crew.

Ian Westlake looks set to continue at left midfield for Town against West Ham on Boxing Day.
