Joe Praise for Pablo - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Joe Royle praised double-scorer Pablo Couñago after his side defeated West Ham 2-1 at Upton Park.

Royle said that the introduction of the Spaniard had a large effect on the game: "The substitution made a difference and it is nice when it works. Pablo has taken his time to get going this season.

"In the last game we kept on giving the ball away and today he didn't, he has made it difficult to leave him out.

"I think we got our rewards in the end, you could say that we nicked it but they nicked it up at our place earlier in the season.

"We did keep on passing the ball and in the end it paid dividends."

West Ham boss Alan Pardew said he expected more of his side after going ahead: "When you take the lead in a home game, you expect to go up a level and we didn't do that which was the big problem today.

"I was searching for a bit of desire but it never arrived and we conceded two soft goals but we are a long way from having the spirit to claw things back and get ourselves in a position to get promoted.

"We are falling way behind and I have to be honest, I think that we are lacking someone to pull us together we are a quiet side."
