Former Town loanee Alan Mahon is again being linked with fellow First Division side Reading. The Irishman was recalled from his loan spell by Blackburn just before Christmas with two weeks of it still to run.
The Royals were first reported to be interested in Mahon during November when his loan was temporarily suspended due to a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old returned to Blackburn due to an injury crisis at Ewood Park. He was a second half sub during their 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough on Boxing Day and played the full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win at Newcastle two days later.
Town boss Joe Royle is keen to see Mahon return on a permanent basis while the player has also indicated he would like to make a long-term switch to Portman Road.
