Finidi Set to Rejoin Real - Ipswich Town News

Reports in Spain say released midfielder Finidi George is set to sign a contract with former club Real Mallorca during the transfer window. The Nigerian left Portman Road in the summer after agreeing a settlement on the remaining two years of his £20,000-a-week contract.

Finidi joined Town from Real Mallorca in the August 2001 for £3.1 million but rarely impressed the Portman Road faithful.

The Nigerian has been in training with Real for two months after being invited back to the club by Luis Aragonés, who was his coach during his previous spell with Mallorca and while he was with Real Betis.

Despite no longer being a regular international, Finidi will not have any work permit problems due to his duaghter having been born in Spain late in his time with the Blues.

The settlement on his Town contract is payable over 18 months and is around £1 million.
