Karic Bargain - Ipswich Town News

Town's new signing Amir Karic's fee has been revealed as just £700,000, a fraction of the price a similar UK-based player would have cost.

This increases speculation that George Burley will continue to be active in the transfer market, probably looking for another midfielder. He has already failed with bids for Hassan Kachloul and Claus Jensen, but with money still in the bank another offer can't be far away.

Of Town's latest acquisition the manager said: "We feel that we are getting good value for money. You can look around this country and a player of similar quality and experience would cost a whole lot more.

"Obviously with a player coming from abroad there is a question of settling in, but we hope that we have managed to get the right player at the right price."

TWTD has learnt that contrary to reports last week not all fans in the front five rows of the North Stand have received letters regarding their conduct from the club. In an email to TWTD a row A seated fan said: "My season ticket is in row A and I've received no warning from the club."

Last week we spoke to fans of other clubs who reported that the crackdown we have seen at Portman Road this season has not occurred at other clubs. More on the standing debate in the TWTD Town Topics section of the website.
