Town Linked With Goat - Ipswich Town News

A tabloid newspaper is linking Town with a loan move for Reading striker Shaun Goater. The Bermudian frontman was a star name under Joe Royle at Manchester City but has so far failed to make the same impact at the Madejski Stadium.

Royle has remained tight-lipped regarding his latest loan target but last week described the sort of player he is looking for: "I think we've looked a little bit toothless lately, so if I can find the right player, not necessarily a front player - although I wouldn't rule out a front player - I will bring him in.

"It's got to be someone who is going to have an impact on the squad, whether he be a terrific supplier of chances or a terrific taker of chances."

Royle is hopeful of having a new face in his squad by the time Town travel to Coventry a week on Saturday.

Goater joined the Royals in the summer for £500,000 from Manchester City and has scored seven goals in 20 starts and three sub appearances.
