Luzhny Set to Sign - Ipswich Town News

Town are hoping to sign Wolves defender Oleg Luzhny on loan before Saturday's home game with Wigan. The 35-year-old has fallen out of favour at Molineux after moving there from Arsenal last summer on a free transfer.

The Ukraine and Soviet Union international would come in as cover for Fabian Wilnis who is out for between four and six weeks with a shoulder injury.

Luzhny, who can play either at full-back or in central defence, spent the majority of his career with Dynamo Kiev, where he won six consecutive league titles and played in the Champions' League.

Nicknamed 'The Horse', apparently due to galloping runs, he joined Arsenal for £1.8 million in 1999, making 110 appearances for the Gunners.

Since the 5'10" defender's switch to Wolves he has played just nine times and is yet to score a goal in English football.
