Lordan Scores for Ireland - Ipswich Town News

Academy youngster Cathal Lordan scored for the Republic of Ireland U17s in a 1-1 draw with Spain on Wednesday night. Lordan was one of two Town youngsters in the Irish side, playing their second game at the Copa del Atlantico competition in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

Lordan, on as a sub for Town team-mate Billy Clarke, headed home in the 65th minute, Cesar Diaz Martinez equalising for the Spanish in the final minute.

Two more Town players - keeper Shane Supple and full-back Michael Synnott - were involved in Ireland's first game, a 1-1 draw with Italy, but were left out of the Spain match.

The Irish complete their fixtures with a game against a Canary Islands XI on Friday. In order to win the tournament they need to win 5-0 and hope that Spain and Italy draw.
