Niven Leaves Town - Ipswich Town News
Stuart Niven, the 21-year-old Scottish midfielder, has been released from his contract at his own request.
Niven had a bright start to his Town career during the 1996/97 season making two appearances. In those days the Scottish U18 international was ahead of Kieron Dyer in the pecking order, however Niven never graced the blue shirt again. He moved back into defence, but lack of form and injury kept him out of the running.
This season has seen him on a month-to-month contract and finding himself a long way from a senior start he has decided to leave. He hopes to find another club either here or in Scotland.
Niven said: "It looked so good for me early on when I came into the first team not long after joining the club from school.
"But opportunities have not arisen since then and I think it is best if I try and get first team football elsewhere."
