Joe Defends Players - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Joe Royle has defended the attitude of his players after supporters castigated members of his squad during Saturday's dismal 3-1 loss to Wigan.
Royle says their attitude cannot be faulted: "We were well beaten, but I was disappointed with our fans' reaction to some of our players at times. Whatever you say about the players they are an honest bunch.
"I know supporters want to cheer us and they want us to compete for a Premiership place. I say to them that we are still chasing a top two place and still have a good chance.
"But we need new input. We are left with what was a very good side that finished fifth in the Premiership. We have added free transfer players and now need something else - and need it quickly."
